just the sock stash...

just waiting for their cast on day, 40 pairs of potential socks... just waiting...  for their turn on the needles...

Lolly said it best "every stash tells a story". I can remember where I bought each one, (hell if I can remember why I just walked into the kitchen but I remember where I bought my yarn!) 10 hanks came from my trip with Mom to Maryland Sheep & Wool just this past year. 3 where gifts, quite a few followed me home just because I had to have them.

a few have plans, the fleece artist autumn a pair of lacey leaf socks, blustery day or CTH birches either cablely socks or vanilla socks with a picot edge... when their time comes its really about what is going on in my imagination.

going through my sock yarn stash brought back memories. None going back more than a year unfortunately as I haven't been knitting socks all that long. The aquamelon and fire in the sky I bought with mom's special order Vesper yarn, the LL knit happens Mike bought for me all by himself. The girls that work there still remember him... is that a good thing? Or is it because you could never forget someone as cute as this? The strange little momma, is one of the best birthday presents I've ever received!

Tomorrow morning, hopefully before noon, we will have the van all packed and will start our drive to my parent's house in Massachusetts. Hopefully we won't forget anything, or anyone. Mom and I will be at the blogger meet up, I'm praying for anything but rain, I'm sure plenty of sock yarn will follow me home.

I'll be there, will you?

Throwing this at ya cause I don't know how to fit this in-
Today I had to take Corra back to the Dr for a re-check on her ears and to have Allysa checked out, since she has caught the cold (almost over it Dad! Don't worry!!) I left my knitting in the car, as I usually do when I bring Allysa with me. The only hand knits I was wearing where my fancy silk socks . Corra told the Dr. that her head hurt "like when she has learnt to much" I didn't see this coming, Dr said "I feel like that sometimes too. I found this pattern once to Tahitian (I think) crochet scarf. It was such an amazing design, and it was very difficult." I was blown away. I mentioned that I knit after he told us about his scarf. The rest of the fiber convo a blur. My kids pediatrician crochets. He's into fiber arts. This is so cool. I had to hold back a giggle when he said "its amazing how you can create something from something that doesn't cost that much." I couldn't tell him that the socks I was wearing, the yarn was $20. The fiber snob in me is hoping he doesn't shop at Walmart! Really, my kids pediatrician crochets. wow. Have I been knit scoped?
Also, for those who've asked. Check out what the ups man delivered a day EARLY even at Mom's! Hoosha!

At the rate sock yarn 'follows you home' you're going to need to invent a mechanical sock knitter ... or something. You have enough to knit three pairs a month for the next year, not counting all the yarn you will buy during that year.

ROFLOL!

That is a gorgeous rainbow of sock yarn. I was eyeing the beautiful LLs -- even better since your dh bought them for you. My old ped. was a dollmaker, he enjoyed hand sewing them -- we got into the topic when he saw cloth diapers I made for ds. I think people in those professions really need a creative outlet. . . Have fun in NY/Mass!

Yowza! I am also lusting after your Lorna's Laces... I was just in the yarn shop yesterday, and I think you have a better selection than they do! You're going to have so much fun at Rhinebeck - say hi to everyone for me!

I was supposed to be at Rhinebeck this year, but life has a way of conspiring against your plans sometimes...I can't tell you how envious I am that you're going. Have a wonderful time and pet an alpaca or two for me, okay?

Thanks for flashing your sock yarn stash... now I don't feel so guilty falling of the sock yarn diet wagon when I fell in love with the Posh Cashmere Silk sock yarn.

Have a blast at Rhinebeck

I think I am getting to be a fiber snob. I have started only shopping at the local yarn stores for yarn. I am sure that my favorite yarn store is happy for all the fiber snobs. When I learn to knit socks, will I have a stash like that??
