Toesies

Saturday started off as any normal Saturday. Got breakfast, we all stayed in our PJ's for most of the morning and chilled out for a bit before it was time for me to leave for my toe up sock class. That was until I went to get ready and the damned power went out! I was chatting on the phone with my friend down the street when the power slooooowly dimmed out. Odd very odd. I finished getting Allysa ready, called the electric company and the babysitter to let her know what was up. The power did come back on for a few seconds, it was strange. The lights came back on and where very dim for a few seconds than went back out. I was trying not to think of the possibilities of what could be going on when I heard the big bang downtown after the lights went out the second time. At this time I had to rush to get to the sitters, who wasn't ready when I got there! Finally I got to the class which was being held at Stitch your Art out in State Collage, almost 45 minutes late. I still feel bad about being so damned late!

The class was SO much fun! I got to meet two lovely ladies and our teacher Cynthia where great. Cynthia gave us her pattern booklet for her toe up socks and walked us though the toe. This part was easy for me, I'm pretty comfortable working with double pointed needles. The heel is going to kick my arse.  I can't quite wrap my brain around how to knit a heel backwards.

Check it out teach! I made myself a pair of Mickey Mouse ears!

For my class socks I'm using medium weight STR in Lapis that I've had in my stash for a bit. Ok Its been balled up since April (?) so its been marinating for a bit. The class rocked,I can't wait to go back and learn how to knit the heel. I've already got half my homework done already, if I was only this good at getting my homework done in school right mom!

I remember the mad rush to get the homework done, sometimes on the way to the bus in the morning.
The ears are cute. The top of the toe, from what I could see, looks pretty good.
Hugs & Kisses to all

Nothing wrong with a little marinating in the stash.

I want to learn that too, starting from the toe up. One day...
Short loss of power are fun...at least when it's not too cold. One day I'll talk about the time we lost it for 31 days!

LOVE THE EARS! LOL

Love the color of those. You are so talented. I can't knit for crap...wouldn't even know where to start. On a funnier note, my wonderful daughter saw the picture of your "toes", looked at them and said, "boobies". LOL How's that for a 2 1/2 year old? LOL

The color of the socks is great. Doing the heel backwards isn't really hard, it just seems to be mind bending. Do you know if you are doing short rows or gussets?

Your socks look great so far! Love the colorway!

Sounds like a good class (I hate to be late, too).

And the ears - cute :) Knit a pair in a hat for your kids one day.

Cute socks ears! I love the color and the toe up class sounds like fun. One of these days I'm going to have try some toe up socks.

Your socks look lovely so far. I'm working on my first toe-ups too!

Your Mickey Mouse ears look lovely! But they might make prettier socks.

So what happened with the power? Big transformer blow out downtown? Don't you hate it when you pick someone up and they're not ready?

I promise you will get through the heels! I have never lost anyone on a sock yet and sure don't intend to start now!

Toesies, they look so cozy.
I am headed to St. College this weekend for the game. I am very excited, dropping the kids off at Mom's in Altoona & headed down for a friday & saturday night stay. I might have to go to that yarn tore & check it out.
I have this dream about my life & it goes something like this, --Kids graduate high school -- hubby(who it an IT geek) gets a job at Penn State Univerity in the IT dept. -- The kids go to Penn State for free, he a football palyer, she a cheeleader & ME I open a yarn store right on College Ave called ------Knittany Yarns & Roar! --- I wanted the word to sound like More, get it!

PS: your guess was right on my truths & lies.

Lovely ears! and love the STR color! Do you always make both socks at the same time? As for the heel, make sure you put in a life-line before you get to it. I had to frog the first one I did but after that they all went very well. I'm sure you'll be fine.
