The stripes are bothering me!
The stripes are bothering me! Yesss... you read that right, the stripes are bothering me! Don't get me wrong, I love this yarn! Its soft and the colors are yummy! Its just the color placement that's bothering my control issues.
click on pic to see beginning of sock, when I was knitting with stinking toothpicks.
I just feel like the white should be between the pink and the creamy brown. I don't know why this is bothering me, really I don't! Is there such a thing as fear of stripes? Even though the stripes are bothering me, I LOVE this yarn! The desired vesper sock yarn. The colors, ohhh how I love the colors! The color way I'm using right now is Neapolitan, and let me tell you. I want me some Neapolitan ice cream! MMm! I'm soo happy that I was able to snag two other colors as well, Fire in the sky and Aquamelon. Vesper is all that its made out to be and then some! Love it! Neapolitan has been in the stash for about a month now, and since the day the post man hid it in the front door, delivered it I've been pondering what the perfect stitch pattern would be. Yeah, soothing stockenette won! I really needed something that no matter where I stopped knitting, when I picked it up, I knew where it was!
Speaking of the Postman, lookie what he bought me yesterday!
click on pic for a close-up
The yarn I ordered from Cayli of Spin a yarn for ewe! Wow! Grrl, that was super fast shipping! Thanks! This yarn is soo soft, and the color gorgeous! I'm thinking a looong skinny scarf knit width-wise (you know when you cast on 300+sts) maybe add a bit of white yarn to show off the blue. I'm just going to stare at it for a while, its sooo pretty! Speaking of blue yarn,
I finished my blue square for Christine's
last weekend. (Or was it two weekends ago?) Did I take a picture of it before I mailed it? Noooooo.. because that would have been the act of both a good blogger and a intelligent being! DUH! I want to knit another square for Vickie's brother, a visit to (one of the three) LYS(s) is in order!
Lookie what the UPS man hid left for me today
Click to see what it is!!
Thanks Mom and Dad!! Your the bestest!! (go give Mom some love! She deserves it!) Thanks!!
Thanks everyone for your super nice comments on my Red Hot Jumpin' Sizzlin socks! Its nice to feel the love!
g where ya been? Why do you need a sweater? You live in a dessert for crying out loud! Isn't it hot? How about a nice hat? *L*
Well, this post is loong enough!! I'm off to blow off some steam, I spent today at my son's pre-school waiting for parents to hand in there Fundraiser money and having to chase down 3 of them. There is something apparently confusing about money has to be in today or no order will be placed in your name!!! I must go knit my sock, eat a bit of popcorn and spend some time screaming at enjoying my children!
HAPPY ST. PATTY'S DAY!

Red Hot Jumpin' Sizzlin Socks!
Red Hot Jumpin' Sizzlin Socks!
Nothing like finishing a pair of Red Hot socks makes you want to jump on the couch like Tom Cruise in love with Katie Homes!! WhooOOOTT!! One more jumping on the couch picture? oh well alright
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these socks!! WEEE!!! So nice and cushy, even if they turned the bottom of my feet red because I didn't wash them first!! Here is a still shot, its a little easier to see the socks when not in motion:
Please ignore the messy carpet ; ) There is one little thing that kinda bugs me about these socks, do you see where sock leg and the heel meet, it poofs out a bit. I'm not sure how to prevent this next time. Maybe work the 2 X 2 rib for a few rows before turning the heel?
Here's the specs:
Pattern: Corded Rib pattern from Sensational Knitted Socks
Yarn: Schaefer Yarn Anne 60% merino wool SUPERWASH, 25% mohair, 15% nylon; Colorway Unknown. I think I'll call it... Fiery Red tomato!
Needles: size 2 Inox
Time: About 2 1/2 weeks off and on.
My thoughts: I love, LOVE, LOVE this yarn!! So soft, warm, cushy! mmmm, LOVE IT! The pattern was super easy too, just 4 rows! I need more of this yarn! Seriously!!
These are my Red Hot Sizzling Socks a-long socks.
I would have never picked this bright red up with out this knit a-long! Thanks Becky! I enjoyed this challenge!
What's next? I have no idea.. no idea... How about one more picture, a artsy fartsy picture, for the road
P.S. Did you know that its really hard to take a (good) picture of your feet shoved through the baluster of your staircase during a thunder storm while using a tripod? Well, did you?

Now that Mommies better, um, who's going to clean?
*warning those with dial-up. Get out your knittin, there's a many pictures here!
Thank you! Thank you everyone with your well wishes!!! I feel so special! Thanks! I'm feeling much better day 3 of Antibiotics. Still a little sick, but doing much MUCH better! And now that Mommies all better, umm... who's gonna clean up this mess?
I noticed how damn bad the kitchen counter is after I picked Corra up from Theater. Theater that she wasn't, WASN'T SUPPOSED TO GO TO!! *breathing* Here's the dish: A few weeks ago the school sent home a interest form, asking parents if there kiddies would be interested in a theater program. You see, I sent that back, and a permission slip for the PTA's bedtime story time. The very smart people got them mixed up! And thought that I sent in the permission slip for the Theater program, Not the story time! GR! I was rip roaring using the polite "I'm going to rip you a new bumhole" voice with the receptionist when Corra didn't get off the bus and I was panicking. Seriously PANICKING! Do they realize, since I didn't sign a permission slip if something happened, the would be soooo screwed?!?! And to put the cherry on top, there was another parent that this happened to as well!!I am still pissed, and that's just the end of my day. The beginning? The middle? Are you sure?? All right.
Today has been one of those days, you know the alarm goes off you hit the snooze button for the next 45 minutes (you know you do!) and then the phone rings. Its your buddy telling you there's a 2 hour school delay. (she knows that you can't hear the radio over all the screaming, and you don't get local channels on the fancy pansy dish!) For freezing freaking rain, what FUN! And you start to wonder, why am I awake now? WHY? oh, because Allysa has pulled the humidifier apart in her room. oh.what.FUN!
After everyone gets dressed, and you notice how damned messy the house is looking now that your better and give a damn. You go to put your feet up on the coffee table once you get back from the grocery, there's a big storm coming after all, and there is no.room.for.ya.FEET even!
my, why is your blue manos on the coffee table? That's right!
Christine's brother is sick with cancer. Understanding the fear of just the possibility, and having a higher probability rate ( see #78 on my about me page if ya don't know what I'm talking about) I jumped right on board and landed on that bandwagon! Weee!! And proceeded to fall onto this mess:
Corra: Oh No! Mommie where are we supposed to EAT?
Please notice the art supplies strewn far and wide across the dinning room table. You love your kids, but um... where's the other one?
Why, she is wondering what ate Mommies hand (see her down there? she's saying Mine, no, MINE! 23 month old, such fun)
arrrggghhhhh!!! *chomp chomp* (click for another picture that shows more of the nifty ribbing pattern. Again on my hand, cause I don't likes feet all that much!)
You don't even want to TALK, or even hear a whisper or see a snipbit of her bedroom/craft room. We'll save that horror for another day!! You really wanna see? REALLY??? Are you crazy? oh all right. OK, I give you... her room? Click the thumbnails if you want to see the messes bigger! AH! the horror!
I wonder where she sleeps....

Now that I'm feeling better, and have told the weirdest story I'm still wondering... How did perfection get on top of the tv?

Why Mommie??!!?? WHY???
At the end of my last post, I really want to say why I choose to knit the Hourglass sweater as my Olympic project. Now that Allysa isn't trying to climb up me, I guess I will tell ya why! I've wanted to knit said sweater for, ohhh about a year or so? It just kept being shuffled down to the end of the "must knit list". You see just reading the pattern baffled me. For some unknown stupid reasons I'm sure, I wasn't understanding the pattern, and where the pattern corrections fit in. I guess I've been using patterns that really hold your hand through the whole process. You know tell you every damn detail, like ssk, k1, slip marker, k2tog. The Hourglass pattern doesn't do that. The decreases for the yoke? Well, they kicked my ass. I ripped that f**ker twice. If it wasn't for having a deadline, that bastard sweater would have been in time out still. And while talking (argueing) with my Mom I (she) figured out that you need to place 4 markers (where do you read in that stinking pattern 4 markers?? They tell you to place 2, just TWO markers! argh!!) 1st one before the first stitch of the first sleeve attaches, 2nd one after the last sleeve attaches, 3rd before the first stitch of the second sleeve and the 4th one after the last stitch of the second sleeve. Like that made any sense. But it did to me, cause third time must be the stupid charm! Cause I got's that damned yoke done. I'm sure there must be a mistake, if not a million in this sweater. Cause I know damned well I didn't read the pattern right. I really, really want to knit this sweater again using silk and wool. Oh that would be nice.... anyway... I'm sick *whine* C has strep, and I have it now. damnit. My throat is killing me, slowly. I feel so yucky I barely want to knit. yeah, that's bad I know. But when I called the Dr's office this morning they didn't seem to think that mattered. THE NERVE! I know! They did at least call in a prescription that Mike is picking up now ( I hope ) I started my Red Hot sizzling socks Thursday I think. And since Allysa seems to think the camera is now her's, and screams MINE, MINE, MINE! When I have it. click for a picture cause yes, I want to have something to show her future boyfriends and I'm evil.
After she went down for her nap, cause damnit I don't feel good I don't feel up to the argument I was able to take these pictures of my sock in progress
click for a stretched out on my hand so you can see the pattern picture.
I really, really like this sock yarn!! It's Schaefer's Anne, sooo nice and squishy. Knits up super fast. Alright, I'm babbling now. I'm off to drink lots of tea, eat many popcicles, maybe do some laundry, and see what I can get Mike to cook dinner!
ugh, I feel like dukie.
*edited to add: Thank you everyone for your complements on my Hourglass sweater!! I really appreciate it!! All my neighbors (except one) thinks I'm crazy when I go around showing off my completed projects. The kids don't understand, and Mike's like uh huh. Thanks again : D

Back from Cleveland? well... kindof...
So.... we didn't make it to Cleveland, we ended up in State College PA instead. (Gotta love these people, they're very creative when it comes to naming towns. Frog town, Bird in Hand, Mars, Blue balls, Panic, just to name a few) Did a bit of shopping, had dinner (at Quaker Steak and Lube mmmmm!!) all sans kid-o's!! It was strange!
Here is my Knitting Olympic's sweater
As, much as I love my lil photographer sometimes.. she just isn't interested in taking pictures. Here are some lovely mirror pictures that show the shape a bit better.
I blame the fuzziness on the 75 year old mirror!
Stats:
Pattern: Hourglass sweater, last minute knitted gifts
Yarn: Finnian's rainbow, 5 skeins in lilac mountain 1 skein in green.
Needles: size 8 bamboo circ and dpns.
Time: Started February 10, finished the 23.
Size: small
My thoughts: This sweater, as easy as it is, kicked my ass at times. This is probably because I didn't really read the directions, I skimmed them. I had to rip out the collar twice, till I got it right on the third time. I can't explain my stupidity on that one right now. I have a 23 month old climbing around me, making it very, very difficult to write. I will knit this sweater again, maybe using a silk and wool blend.
I hope everyone who participated in the KO enjoyed themselves. I know I sure did!
Ok.. bath time for the monsters! Momma's got a sock to knit! : )
