There was a guy I dated in high school that would always say "nice." Towards the end of our relationship it was like nails on a chalkboard. Kinda like the girl JD on scrubs dated that would never laugh she would say "that's funny." It was very irritating. When the ex bf would say nice he would either mean ohh that's cool or nice in a condescending way. Nice was a word with many different meanings for him. Today I bring you: Nice...

Nice... blue sky with no clouds. Warm sunny day here in Western PA.

Nice... the sock that lives in the mini van has finally grown more than 1" (I'm using Vesper sock in Astro on size 0's)

Nice... I managed to cut my pinky finger on my right hand while shaving my legs. (really, who else does this?)

Nice... 1 almost finished Gentleman's sock with Lozenge Patten from Knitting Vintage Socks. (started April 14)

Nice... my legs are so pasty white they are reflective

Nice... I have a new love for almost solid sock yarn, even though my camera has a hard time capturing the beauty of STR boysenberry see?

Rhinebeck 2006

Saturday morning turned out to be a lovely day,

Mom and I followed the masses yesterday to Rhinebeck Sheep and wool festival. We woke up early (7am), left Mom's house at 8 and arrived at 930. To our surprise, we where able to go in early. The first stop on our list was to the fold to score some STR. Among many others, I really I couldn't help myself.

While we where still at the Fold's booth, Mom and I met Amy from I heart knitting and Valerie from Knitting in pink!

Mom and I wandered around building A a little bit more, made a trip out to the truck. Our bag was getting a wee bit heavy. We walked around a little bit, saw the llama's and then met up with Adelle from Girl is Crafty for lunch.

After chatting with Adelle, Mom and I wandered around building E a little bit and then went over to the blogger met up. Holy.crap. There where a lot of bloggers. A lot. Many. Let's say there where many, many bloggers! Mom and I met some new people (which is great!) We met Shelby, Christine, Jody, Dana, Lisa, Cygknit, Kelly and so many more that I just can't remember right now!! Urgh!!

Mom and I wondered around the barns a little bit, picked up a few more things and then we had to leave. After spending what felt like eternity trying to get out of the parking lot and almost being hit by some guy who felt he didn't have to wait in line. We made it home. Check out my haul, I was pretty good.

In the next pic the softest merino eva (Really. EVER.) from Greenwood hill farm in silver and 5 hanks of Moorland Tweed in Skye from Autumn House farms.

Next year, honestly if I have to pick one festival to go to. Its going to be Maryland. Rhinebeck was nice, but there wasn't very much room for moving around. The barns where too small for all the people milling around, the parking attendants. Well.. it would be nice if they stuck around for the whole day to direct people out. Tomorrow the kids and I go back to PA. As always our trip isn't long enough.

Saturday sky & a visit from Mr. Mailman

Here is my Saturday sky

On a Saturday, taken today (Saturday) can you believe it? I hardly can! Your lookin at the big sugar maple in my front yarn that has changed to a lovely yellow this year, and that's the top right corner of our house. We have so many lovely leaves in our yard, the kids and I are having fun adding more leaves too our "collections". *sigh* I love Autumn.

The mailman has been good to me this week, he thinks I'm a "knitting machine" (his exact words) and he would really like a brown hat... I told him yes, if He stops hiding packages in between my screen door and my front door. I got a package all the way from Australia! Diane was my August Birthday pal spoil-ie (go see those cute little baby socks she knit up! She designed the pattern too! WOW! Those are on my knit list girl!) she sent me this thank you package which was out of this world! AND she just moved to London! WOW!

WOW! She sent me the cutest little bag, Allysa is showing off in the second pic. Don't worry I got it back ; ) The bag is perfect for socks in progress and is in my favorite colors! Love the strawberry fabric, and Diane its made beautifully! The kids and I are loving the platypus magnet, how did you know I like those little guys? They are so neat! A lavender pong rock that is making my Grandmother's cabinet smell a whole lot better now, the most beautiful stitch markers I ever did see and the yummiest chocolate ever! mmmm!! Thank you so much Diane you rock my world!

Mr. Mailman also brought me some new stash from simply sock yarn company. The past few weeks I've been dreaming of knitting a pair of lacy leaf socks with Autumn colored sock yarn. I've also been cruising all around the internets for *the* perfect yarn. I saw a few contenders that I considered for a while

Cherry tree hill in fall foliage here, decided against it because, really where do you see purple and blue leaves? I'm so glad I decided against this color way, see how it knits up? interesting...
and here, I wanted a little green. Just a little a smidgen.
and here (can't find the link now! Gr! It was on etsy...) I didn't want stripes. Thought it would detract from the leaf pattern I was dreaming about.

Wanna see what I got? (Because ya know, I couldn't wait the two weeks till Rhinebeck. Cause I'm totally going to cast on for these socks before then. uh huh!)

top to bottom Fleece artist merino in Autumn, Schaefer yarn Anne in Kermie, and Interlacement tiny toes in color 216. What really helped me make my decision was a phone call to Allison the owner of Simply sock yarn co. I wasn't sure if the green in the fleece artist was going to be ok. (my camera did a crappy job of capturing the colors) After a few minutes of talking about the different autumny colors she had in her shop, I went with the fleece artist autumn. Allison was great, and really helped me out! Thank you Allison! The other two yarns? Well... they just jumped in the cart... had to get free shipping you know ; )

my so called scarf using manos colorway 109 and my Claudia's hand painted socks in passion fruit. My first socks of Socktoberfest require a new pair of shoes for their formal photo shoot. So this afternoon, once I finish our bill spreadsheet (Cause Mike decided to change it ALL and I have to enter ALL the information from the last 6 months AGAIN) drop Allysa off at her Auntie's. Its shoe shoppin time! My socks need new shoes, and I need new shoes to be happy pregnant, right? *L*

Saturday Sky

finally, some blue sky and sunshine today! The kids really enjoying playing outside this afternoon while I knitted the sleeve of my sweater. We both enjoyed the sun which we haven't seen in weeks.

I knew I had *some* tea, but I really had no idea that I have 12 boxes of tea! I love fruit teas and mint teas. I want to collect tea cups and tea pots. But my collection is very slow growing. The tea cup on the left I got from a DAR tea years ago with my Mom and Grandmother. If you embiggen the pic you can see my tea pots on the hutch in the background. My favorite tea pot is the blueberry one, my Mom gave it to me.

This brings me to what???

A few weeks ago, before my Aunt fell ill she gifted my mom with some yarn, which in turn was gifted to me. In the bag of vintage wool there are 12 13" crocheted squares in all.

I would like to make 2 felted rugs. But have no idea if I should sew the squares together before I felt them or after I felt them?? If anyone has any input ppplllleeeassseee let me know!! I would love to mail my Aunt one of the finished rugs.

Saturday Sky and New Swaps!

Here is my Saturday Sky taken at 2pm of the side of my front porch.

This morning, I woke up to rain. More rain! urgh! Thank goodness it stopped raining late this afternoon, the sky is now a overcast of clouds with some bright sunshine peeking through at times. *sigh* Sunshine, how I've missed it!

I signed up for the knitter's tea swap 2 today

there are still spots open! I can't wait to start, I enjoy tea (coffee too!) especially when its chill out and I'm waiting for my kids bus. I can't wait to start this swap, maybe I'll be lucky enough to have a international pal!

I keep forgetting to mention this but Bev over at Comfy Bev has started the October Birthday swap. If your birthday is in October, go sign up! I had so much fun with the August Birthday swap those October Birthday gals are going to have tons of fun too.

Hope everyone is enjoying there weekend, Allysa is (sorta) taking her nap. I'm off to enjoy some quiet knitting time, with a hot cup of tea a non-kid show while still in my pj's at 2:30 in the afternoon. I love weekends.

started by who else? Sandy! Sandy thought of the perfect way to pick up blogland on Saturdays. I'm playing catch up now, since I found out so late Saturday night, here is my Sunday Sky

Can you see the rain pouring from the sky? Our weather forecast for the next week isn't so great. Rain, Rain and then a whole lotta thunderstorms, followed by a bit more rain. I hope it clears up for Mike's break! His hunny do this now list is filled with things that have to be done outside!!

actual knitting content this afternoon, promise once the batteries for the camera are charged!
