Saturday morning turned out to be a lovely day,

Mom and I followed the masses yesterday to Rhinebeck Sheep and wool festival. We woke up early (7am), left Mom's house at 8 and arrived at 930. To our surprise, we where able to go in early. The first stop on our list was to the fold to score some STR. Among many others, I really I couldn't help myself.

While we where still at the Fold's booth, Mom and I met Amy from I heart knitting and Valerie from Knitting in pink!

Mom and I wandered around building A a little bit more, made a trip out to the truck. Our bag was getting a wee bit heavy. We walked around a little bit, saw the llama's and then met up with Adelle from Girl is Crafty for lunch.

After chatting with Adelle, Mom and I wandered around building E a little bit and then went over to the blogger met up. Holy.crap. There where a lot of bloggers. A lot. Many. Let's say there where many, many bloggers! Mom and I met some new people (which is great!) We met Shelby, Christine, Jody, Dana, Lisa, Cygknit, Kelly and so many more that I just can't remember right now!! Urgh!!

Mom and I wondered around the barns a little bit, picked up a few more things and then we had to leave. After spending what felt like eternity trying to get out of the parking lot and almost being hit by some guy who felt he didn't have to wait in line. We made it home. Check out my haul, I was pretty good.

Next year, honestly if I have to pick one festival to go to. Its going to be Maryland. Rhinebeck was nice, but there wasn't very much room for moving around. The barns where too small for all the people milling around, the parking attendants. Well.. it would be nice if they stuck around for the whole day to direct people out. Tomorrow the kids and I go back to PA. As always our trip isn't long enough.

Here is my Saturday sky

On a Saturday, taken today (Saturday) can you believe it? I hardly can! Your lookin at the big sugar maple in my front yarn that has changed to a lovely yellow this year, and that's the top right corner of our house. We have so many lovely leaves in our yard, the kids and I are having fun adding more leaves too our "collections". *sigh* I love Autumn.

The mailman has been good to me this week, he thinks I'm a "knitting machine" (his exact words) and he would really like a brown hat... I told him yes, if He stops hiding packages in between my screen door and my front door. I got a package all the way from Australia! Diane was my August Birthday pal spoil-ie (go see those cute little baby socks she knit up! She designed the pattern too! WOW! Those are on my knit list girl!) she sent me this thank you package which was out of this world! AND she just moved to London! WOW!

WOW! She sent me the cutest little bag, Allysa is showing off in the second pic. Don't worry I got it back ; ) The bag is perfect for socks in progress and is in my favorite colors! Love the strawberry fabric, and Diane its made beautifully! The kids and I are loving the platypus magnet, how did you know I like those little guys? They are so neat! A lavender pong rock that is making my Grandmother's cabinet smell a whole lot better now, the most beautiful stitch markers I ever did see and the yummiest chocolate ever! mmmm!! Thank you so much Diane you rock my world!

Mr. Mailman also brought me some new stash from simply sock yarn company. The past few weeks I've been dreaming of knitting a pair of lacy leaf socks with Autumn colored sock yarn. I've also been cruising all around the internets for *the* perfect yarn. I saw a few contenders that I considered for a while

Cherry tree hill in fall foliage here, decided against it because, really where do you see purple and blue leaves? I'm so glad I decided against this color way, see how it knits up? interesting...
and here, I wanted a little green. Just a little a smidgen.
and here (can't find the link now! Gr! It was on etsy...) I didn't want stripes. Thought it would detract from the leaf pattern I was dreaming about.

Wanna see what I got? (Because ya know, I couldn't wait the two weeks till Rhinebeck. Cause I'm totally going to cast on for these socks before then. uh huh!)

top to bottom Fleece artist merino in Autumn, Schaefer yarn Anne in Kermie, and Interlacement tiny toes in color 216. What really helped me make my decision was a phone call to Allison the owner of Simply sock yarn co. I wasn't sure if the green in the fleece artist was going to be ok. (my camera did a crappy job of capturing the colors) After a few minutes of talking about the different autumny colors she had in her shop, I went with the fleece artist autumn. Allison was great, and really helped me out! Thank you Allison! The other two yarns? Well... they just jumped in the cart... had to get free shipping you know ; )

my so called scarf using manos colorway 109 and my Claudia's hand painted socks in passion fruit. My first socks of Socktoberfest require a new pair of shoes for their formal photo shoot. So this afternoon, once I finish our bill spreadsheet (Cause Mike decided to change it ALL and I have to enter ALL the information from the last 6 months AGAIN) drop Allysa off at her Auntie's. Its shoe shoppin time! My socks need new shoes, and I need new shoes to be happy pregnant, right? *L*

Thank you everyone, who sent us well wishes! WOW! Mike was blown away, I think he is starting to get this blogging thing. I'm blown away too, you guys make me cry. But in a good way. Really. Thanks.

Attacking the mailman

I've been waiting anxiously for the mailman. This afternoon he arrived, I rushed out to collect my package. Apparently I scared him, heehee. Next time, don't take so long Mr! I told him I've been waiting for this package. I was so excited when I realized this was my August Birthday Pal package I ripped the package open in the front yard! As soon as I ripped off the packing tape I could smell this lovely flowery smell. mmmmm! I was able to resist for a few minutes and I rushed inside to take a picture of the lovely wrapping. Which I would show you, but my camera decided to be a turd and ate the picture! I slowly started to unwrap each little package, Carole did such a great job! Here take a look:

Wow! Such a great package! From left to right we have the most FANTASTIC sock yarn EVER! Carole dyed sock yarn for me to match the colors of my blog! Love it! I love what she named the color way "The Mistress"! I think you know what I'm going to be knitting up next! Next to that we have a book that I forgot that I told her I wanted! The Knitter's book of Finishing Techniques, hopefully this will help with my lousy finishing skills. Up above that there are two yummy dips that I can't wait to try (good thing we are having a party this weekend!) Green Chile Dip and Queso Dip mix. Next to that some lovely soap made by Sandia Soap in geranium egyptian rose oil scent which is going to stay by my laptop so I can smell it all the time! Next to that there is a ball of Mission Falls 1824 cotton in color way 402. And then a beautiful Birthday card.

Thank you all for your Happy Birthday wishes! Thanks Mom for your sweet post as well! : )

Allysa and I really enjoyed our visit with Mike in DC. I wish that we could have stayed a few more days it was that enjoyable. (Usually after spending one day and one night in a hotel with a toddler I'm ready to bolt!) But I had to go pick Corra and Bryce up at their "Dad's" (They where at their Dad's parents, anyway...) Friday, after we ate breakfast Allysa and I went to see Mike at one of the Verizon sites that he has been working at for the past few months in DC. Mike is a fiber optic technician. The inside of these fiber sites is just mind boggling. As technology hates me, I shouldn't be allowed in there! There are towers, and towers of computer cards, fibers, the cooling fans howling. Its just amazing. Anyway, after we met Mike's co-workers and Allysa charmed them all. We all went to lunch, and went back to the site. Where Mike said "Since knit happens closes at 5:30, and I don't know when I'm getting off work tonight. Here (hands me his credit card) take this. Don't go too crazy." I'm just in awe. He handed me his credit card, and told me spend as much as you want. Don't go crazy." Go ahead, I'll let you process that. I'll wait.

uh. HUH! Isn't he awesome? yeah I know. *giggle* he is! *sigh* Allysa and I proceeded to find our way from University Park (I think, somewhere near there at least) to Alexandria Virginia. After many wrong turns, a tearful phone call, some screaming (to myself) about why I don't live in the city I found myself at Knit Happens. I also found myself overwhelmed. I had no idea what I wanted. I've never been in this shop before, they carry a lot of yarns that I enjoy. And while I was looking threw the Lorna's laces. I heard the second most beautiful words to a woman's ear "Everything in the store is 10-60% off till Sunday." me thinking "No freaking WAY!" I told everyone in the shop that it was definitely a fantastic day for my birthday, and that my hunny gave me his card to go shopping. Boy, I've never heard so many people laugh! Here is my haul, I have to say I was pretty restrained. A lot of the yarn that I wanted they didn't have enough off. Like the muench Touch me, they had 3 balls of the color I *really* wanted. So I had to settle for green, which they had 4 off, to make the vintage velvet scarf from scarf style.

Like I said pretty restrained. I did go up to web's while visiting my parents a week ago, and that had a lot to do with it too. that and I wasn't sure what Mike would define as "crazy!" *L*. After Allysa and I left the shop, we drove back to the hotel to wait for Mike so we could go to dinner. We really weren't sure where to eat. I picked Red Lobster. mmmm... what a great meal! Mike the sneaky little devil. While we where waiting for our main course, I told him please don't ask them to sing. A piece of cake with a candle would be great, but please no stupid clappy dancy song. He told me that I was with him the whole time, when would he have the chance to have said anything. But that little sparkle in his eye said otherwise. After our yummy dinner, a piece of chocolate cake with a candle appeared. Mike had slipped the waiter a note in his menu. Like I said, sneaky little devil! *sigh* it was great.

Allysa and I had to leave Friday morning, amazingly enough we didn't hit any traffic. On the way home we stopped at Stitch your Art out. It was kinda sorta on the way home, ok not really. But I was thinking about my Aunt Adair. She is in the hospital, you can read more about it on my mom's blog here . This is what followed me home:

A skein of Classic Elite bamboo, in purple. A ball of Plymouth yarn's sinsation in purple. A hank each of Claudia's hand painted in midnight and twilight to match the two I bought about a month ago. (yeah, wasn't two different dye lots. It was too different color ways. Yeap.) I wasn't sure if I would have enough of the Sinsation to make a eye pillow for my Aunt, so that's why I bought the bamboo. We'll see. I'll be starting the pillow tonight. (Hopefully)

Now, with so much new yarn. What to knit?? My mind is thinking of all the possibilities of what, but I just can't settle on anything! I have to say, I definitely had a very happy Birthday this year! : )

oh! Before I forget again. Here is my Saturday sky. On Sunday.

Crap! Where did July go??

This morning after breakfast, right before laundry while talking to Michael I had a "oh crap." moment. You see, Mike is still at work in DC, yesterday (Sunday) was his day off and he desided it would be a great idea to change the fuel filter in his diesel truck while he was in the parking lot of his hotel. His truck is now very P.O.'ed at him and refuses to start. For once, I'm taking my Mom's advise and keeping my mouth shut. This is very hard. Because who changes their fuel filter in a hotel parking lot? Really?? While talking to him, I realized We leave for Florida in 3 days. This was my "oh crap" moment. Oh, crap we leave for Florida in three.freaking.days. Crap. Crap. Crap. I'm so not ready. I have laundry to do, a house to clean, blueberries to do something with. Crap. three.freaking.days. Where did July GO? Did I mention that we are driving the 1,181 miles there? Did I mention that we are towing a trailer? Did I mention that we are bringing home a massive china cabinet from my Grandma's house that I have no idea where I am going to put? Crap. oh, Mike wants me to make up a schedule and I haven't done that yet. I hate schedules. Crap. crap. Double crap.

I need ya'lls help, does anyone have any fun fun travel games to keep my monsters entertained in the car? Because hell they are not watching DVD's the whole way, or at least till my big bottle of tylenol is empty or I can't find my earplugs.

Speaking of headache's I've had one for 3 days now, that just won't go.away. Go over to my Mom's blog to read more. I just can't find the words. I'm kinda walking around in denial, not sure what to do, what to say. I don't know what to tell the kids, if to tell them, or even if I should just wait to tell them, if I tell them. Times like this it really sucks living so far away, makes me want to pick up and move home. But then I think about the kids, and the lives that they have here and what it would be like to start over knowing no one. And if I can afford to live there. Sorry to dump all that out. I just had to get it out there.

Oh, I took the kids to State College today to go shopping for My August Birthday Pal, looking what followed me home from Stitch your Art out:

two hanks of Claudia's Hand Painted in Twilight. Guess what? They are two different dye-lots and pretty darn different. I forgot to check the dye lots before I left the store. I was to busy making sure my evil tired monsters didn't tear the store down. Trust me Allysa was so tired, she was close. Right now, I just don't care that the dye lots don't match, I will probably just make two different pairs of socks. urgh.

P.P.S. My tomato and pumpkin hats are based on this pattern from knitchicks. I changed it around a bit so all the green points where even. The hats I made from the knitchicks pattern would fit a 3-6 month old. I made up my own pattern based on the knitchicks pattern for Allysa hat (she has a 26 inch head and she's 2), this hat also stretches to fit Corra (who's 7)! But for any of you that are interested in a unpattern I would be happy to figure one up for you. Anything to keep my mind busy. Just let me know.

P.S. Mike just called between him and three guys at the dealership they where able to fix whatever that he broke and the truck starts! Yay! I was so worried that he wouldn't be getting home in time.

The trip home

Our trip home from Massachusetts to Pennsylvania was a long one. Probably cause we stopped at 2 yarn shops, for food 3 times, went through a lot of construction, and had a few breaks.

First stop: We stopped at a local yarn shop, which should be left unmentioned. The owner is a itch with a B in front and they are overpriced. I stopped because I *really* wanted to check out the yarn orphanage and find some bulky yarn to complement some yarn I bought recently from the Destash blog. This is what followed me home:

from right to left: 1 hank of manos in rosin color 26, 1 ball cascade fixation. The rest was from the orphanage and was 50% off! 4 balls Jaeger extra fine merino 3 in lilac (989), 1 in dark berry (992) and taupe (938) and 1 ball karabella in white (1350) I'm going to have to figure with the yardage but I'm thinking of either a tank for me out of the lilac and white, if there isn't a sweater for the monster.

After we gorged on some doughnuts (I had to indulge Heather, we had ice cream too while at my parents! Just don't ask me where the camera was, k?) we hit the road. While on I87 heading South we saw this truck

We thought it was really cool! We don't see Corra's name out there too much, as it is a old fashioned name and isn't used much. When we got home I found their website clicky here. Don't know why a Canada company's truck was in New York heading South, but it was really cool to see it! After lunch we went to a yarn shop in Milford PA that I had never been to before. After driving around the whole town, and finally stopping and asking for directions we finally found Jill Deal fine yarns don't the kids look happy to have found it?

Looky! I got free yarn! Free yarn I can touch! Free yarn for you!

Lets have another contest cause just touching the tag of this yarn makes me itchy. Leave a comment from now till Sat at midnight to win 2 balls of Karabella brushed alpaca in color 1074 (blue) The lady at the yarn shop, and another woman who knit a baby blanket with this stuff said this is enough to make a nice bulky scarf and is lovely yarn. But Alpaca (llama and angora, you know the good stuff) makes me really itchy, my hands go numb, blotchy and sneezy, so I think its best this go to a new home! Good luck!

That is where the excitement ended on our trip home, we went though many construction sites made a few more pit stops, and ate at Wendy's before we finally made it home 11 hours later, 8 hours of drive time. Let me tell you, its good to be home.

Bryce has to go to the Allergist tomorrow, we are both nervous about it (him more than me) but I hope we find something that will help his eczema and his allergies. This should be fun.

The Sock speaks Up

One of the reason why I like keeping a knitting blog, is so I can go back through my archives and see when I started a project so I have a good idea how long it took me to make. Somehow these socks fell through the cracks. I think I started these socks on Friday or Saturday. But to be completely honest, I have.no.idea. Really, For all I remember I could have started them on on Thursday. I'm sorry, I'm really wiped out from today my mind is all over the place and I'm just feeling kind blah. So please excuse me if this post well.. sucks. Here is the start of my Lace Silk socks from Vintage knitting socks. Look they're green! Project Spectrum green! And ya know what else? They are the current sock to the Vintage knitting socks along, yay!

This is the first sock I've knit with a lace cuff. Isn't it perdy?

I wasn't to sure about the little knit two together, thats done every 9 rows (the little bumpy things in the middle) Looking at the picture in the book I wasn't sure if I was going to keep it in or not. It forms a little flower, I love it!!

Monday, The poor sock was horribly neglected while I cleaned and pitched. Tuesday I put the turning of the heel off till soccer practice. I don't know why I do this, I dislike turning the heel, and I don't. This afternoon while watching the kids playing outside, and enjoying this lovely sky

I finished my 2nd lace repeat on the foot, and am half way though the decreases. (sorry the sock is REALLY washed out)

Here are some of the reasons why I'm so wiped out today, MandaJ and I went shopping today we stopped at Joann's I bought some Sugar and Cream (one of each of these colors hot pink, summer splash, and playtime to be exact) to make a few ball band warshcloths, and a new knitting book since I had a 40% off coupon thanks to MandaJ, Reader's Digest Ultimate Sourcebook of Knitting and Crochet Stitches. (hehehe Manda and I didn't know the coupons wheren't good till the 27, the girl rang up my order first and when she went to ring up Manda's she said the coupon wasn't good yet. hmmm.. why did mine work then? She let Manda use her coupon too : ) See this is why we go shopping together!) and this:

SHEEP AND WOOL!! SHEEP AND WOOL!!!

Maryland Sheep and Wool was a total BLAST!! (even though most of the time I was really stuffy and kinda dozing with my eyes open in a state of awe. I'm not sure if this was the wool fumes or all that damned pollen.) Mom and I are most defiantly going next year. (Just choosing a different hotel!!) I was fully expecting the festival to be like Walmart 5am Black Friday, it was busy but not that bad. I'm glad I didn't bring the kids, my head would have exploded!! Saturday morning we headed over to the fairgrounds from Fredrick, after fighting off a bus that really thought he was special and didn't have to wait in line (gr) like everyone else (double gr) we parked and made a bee-line for The Fold's booth. Lookie I scored these babies before they where all sold out!

Mom and I went and visited Autumn House Farms a scooped up two more hanks of Sumptuous. Which they now call Del Rio in Fox Grape.

mmmm.. so soft

We wondered around for a little bit, Mom bought us both a darning egg. I've been (sorta) looking for one for awhile now. This summer I'm going to look around at local auctions, thrift shops and such for some antique ones. I went into the next booth over, Susanne's knitting shoppe and bought a Koigu Charlotte's web shawl kit for $55.

Then we had lunch. I had a lamb-burger, I hate to say this.. but it was good!! After lunch we headed over to the stage area for the knit blogger met-up. Where we met fellow knit bloggers

Check it out!! I met my March Project Spectrum Postcard swap pal Jusley! Too cool! I also met some bloggers that I have read before and some that new ones Lolly, trek, Tara, Amy, Erin, Agent gray Agent Scarlet, Kristin, Ashley with her adorable little guy, Zarah, Jenna, Suzanne (who was Jusley's March pal!!) Eilene and Julia! But I completely spaced and didn't find Bev and Petra (I'm sure I'm missing someone else, but its late, I can't really breathe and all this linking is making me woozy!)

Anyone still here after all that? After that Mom and I went back into the Main Hall where I bought (the hank on the bottom) a hank of Hand painted wool and mohair from Three waters Farms. Looks an awful lot like Autumn House's Del Rio, same yardage too.. hmm... its just $6 more! I LOVE the blue!! (trying to expand my color horizons!)

We went outside, wondered around looking for Brooks Farm. I found Tintagel Farm, and sinfully bought (the middle and then the top hank) 50/50 Kid mohair and fine wool in color Bramble, and a hank of 100% Silk in colorway Waterfall ($15!!!) Could you have said no, I didn't think so!! At that point Mom was tired of listing to me sniffle and whine about my feet hurting, so we headed back to the hotel.

Sunday morning I was determined to find Brooks Farm. So we headed back to the festival. I was suckered in to one booth where they had a few hanks of this lovely outside, next thing I knew I was at the counter buying it!

Claudia's Handpainted sock yarn in Passion Fruit (which I had to distract Mom with her early Birthday/Mother's day yarn so I could sneak it into my suitcase!) 1 bag of Debbie Bliss Cathay in color 09 (pink) 2 bags of Debbie Bliss Cathay in color 15 (purplely blue) and 2 just in casers Debbie Bliss Cathay in color 14 showcased in picture 1. In picture two we have Craft gloves, two sets of needles and two hanks of Noro Cash Iroha (very yummie yes!!) and 7 hanks of tweedy cotton classic in color 466.

Throwing it at ya: a couple of weeks ago, I emailed Julia at Knitterely things, asking her if she would be kind enough to create a skein of yarn for my Mom. She came up with the beautifulest of colorways for my mom, even naming it after her Crazy Jane. Thanks Julia, you are the best! I gave Mom her yarn when I saw her last weekend I just couldn't wait till her birthday in June! She loves it! She showed it to everyone at the Harlots event! Mom loves loves LOVES her yarn! Go look she has 4 inches knit already!! WOW! Julia, I don't think I've said this enough, thank you!!! Mom, enjoy your present, I love you!

Cause I bought more sock yarn.... from left to right Pebbles, Lapis and Watermelon Tourmaline in medium weight STR. I swear my mail carrier must know when I'm on the breaking edge, the last day I can possibly weight for my yarn! Because yesterday, before I left the house to pick up Corra from the bus there was this sweet little package from Toni at the Fold I'm already picking out what colors I want next. I need another set of arms! Seriously!

Do you suppose Dad will notice if I hide the socks in the furthest darkest corner of my creepy basement and never ever ever talk of the sock again?? Well... I managed to rip out the toe and re-knit, and rip out the cast on edge and knit a additional 2 inches on one sock. The other sock has been appropriately named

The Bastard Sock

No matter what I do, I can not get to live stitches that are not all tangled up. Its kinda hard to explain. When the angry memories have faded, I think I will just use a needle and weave some waste yarn into a row of stitches and go from there. Stupid sock.

Also Corra lost a tooth today.

She didn't even know it was loose!!

Monday-Wednesday I will be going to the Head start Spring Conferences in the Harrisburg/ Hershey PA area. Does anyone know of any good knit shops in the Harrisburg/Hershey area? I will be leaving Mike with the kids and need something to soothe the panic. I've never left the kids alone for more than one night!! I will not panic, no, no I will not. *breathing*

***Updated Corra lost her other loose tooth! As she put it it was one bad tooth, she had to pull on it to get it out! The tooth fairy better be packin some cash tonight!!
